Camera review Panasonic Lumix GF2

This is part two of the previous post because my blog was messing up the longer post. Dang, I will need to fix that too..

Anyway this is the part of the review from photographer Mark Teskey.

‎(warning – somewhat off-topic but related discussion of the GF2 and the entire GF line)

I looked VERY seriously at the GF2 right before Christmas when I was in the market for a micro 4/3’s camera to do pole and aerial photography for real estate. The larger sensor and small body size was very attractive.

Unfortunately, Panasonic decided to ‘consumerize’ the GF series and remove a number of pro features that were in the GF1 when they made the GF2. The biggest one for me was the removal of cable release/remote triggers. I ultimately bought the GF1 and *love* it. The GF1+20mm f/1.7 pancake kit has actually increased in price.. if you can find one..

Panasonic has since introduced the GF3 and is increasing the disturbing consumerization trend. Gone now is the hot shoe, along with more hard controls in favor of touch screen menus.

There is a bright spot for pros looking for pro features in a small body camera – Panasonic did mention in a press release that they will have a GF-series camera targeted at pros with all the stuff added back in (a GF4, perhaps?) this year.

Thanks so much Tom and Mark!

There is an in depth review of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF2 in the PC Magazine article http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2375914,00.asp

So this may not clear up everything for you with regards to an ILC but hopefully it will allow you to see that you do not need to lug your anchor around with you all the time because remember the old adage, the best camera is the one you have with you.
Have fun creating art!
